The objectives of this forum is to:
- To promote awareness of Sabah’s Port development and logistics hub initiatives. Seeing the potential of its strategic location in the vibrant Asian market and the potential of Sabah being the hub of trade, SPSB has laid out a 30 years Port Master Plan to support the economic development of the Sabah State. Its first initiative is to embark on a supply driven strategy by expanding its capacity from 500,000 TEUs to 1,25 million TEUs to be able to receive fifth generation vessels. Its strategy to position Sapangar Bay container Port as the hub and spoke for transshipment cargo for East ASEAN region is to build up volume to attract MLOs plying between Far East and this region. The transshipment hub initiative will spur other multimodal logistics development and activities. These include the development of the Pan Borneo highway, railway connectivity linking the hinterland and aviation hub.
- To maximize the investment opportunities and potential in Sabah – Sabah is full of natural resources and is a jewel for tourism. With the logistics development in plan, the right time to capture the business opportunities and potential that Sabah has to offer is ripe for potential new stakeholders.
- To foster greater collaboration through effective networking amongst industry and Government stakeholders. – In order for all the development plan to be implemented successfully, Government support in terms of policies and regulations are very important. Strong collaboration are needed for Federal and State Government , industries and logistics players to ensure the mission to make the Sabah as the preferred option for hub and trade are materialized.
