Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd Host Sports Run for Asean Ports Association Malaysia Members
Sabah Ports Sdn Bhd (SPSB) is pleased to announce it recently hosted the ASEAN Ports Association, Malaysia (APA Malaysia) Mini Marathon Tournament. Held on 28th September 2017, almost 100 runners from member ports turned up at Nexus Karambunai Resort & Spa to participate in the run. Ms. Lai Fui Nar, Senior Manager for Sapangar Bay Container Port, SPSB acted as Organizing Chairperson.
En. Addy Zonius from SPSB emerged as champion in the 9.1 KM Men’s Open while Westports Malaysia Sdn Bhd’s En. Abdul Halim Bin Mohd Saad took first place in the 5KM Men’s Veteran category. Bintulu Port Authority’s Pn. Siti Norazah Binti Nazieman and SPSB’s Pn. Helen Liaw came first in the 5KM Women’s Open and Veteran category, respectively.
A total of 9 heads of ports and senior management joined the 2KM VIP category which was won by Kuantan Port Authority’s En. Ahmad Nasrul Bin Suhaimi.
In his closing speech, SPSB’s Chief Operating Officer, En. Mohd Sahid Hj. Nawab Khan said “APA Malaysia has been instrumental in putting forward the interest of Malaysian port operators and authorities at the ASEAN level. The regional cooperation has provided an effective platform for information exchange especially concerning issues and developments affecting ASEAN ports. As an active member of the association, SPSB is proud to host the goodwill tournament and foster unity among Malaysian ports.”
APA Malaysia is a recognised body under the purview of the Ministry of Transport, Malaysia as well as a sub chapter of the main ASEAN Ports Association (APA). Currently APA Malaysia has 17 members consisting of Malaysian port operators and authorities.
Annually, APA holds meets among its members to discuss port development within ASEAN as well as organizes conferences and sports events for its affiliates.
